Harvard's Glass Flowers

Glass Flowers: Glass models of Plants and the Ware Collection

The Ware Collection of Glaschka Glass Models of Plants is certainly one of the most famous and recognized collections for Harvard University.  Over 4000 representations of plants and species were created by artisans Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka, who work together as a father and son team from Germany.

It is truly difficult to believe that these beautiful glass flowers were created entirely by hand using only glass and the heat of an artists torch.

Just the colors alone that were used in recreating these leaves from glass using a torch leaves a person in awe at the talent these artists had when creating this collection.
